christian formation
Our parish is committed to traditional and biblical Christian formation within the English/Anglican expression of orthodox-catholic Christian faith "which was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 1:3). Our current formation opportunities open to those who regularly worship with us are:
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (for children ages 3-9): Sundays 9-10:30 am. For more information, click here. Advent Study: Each of the four Sunday evenings in Advent will be worship, fellowship, and formation. Everything starts with 5 pm Evensong, followed by a meal in the parish hall. After the meal, Fr Dallman will offer teaching until 7:15 pm. The topic will be the eight Ecumenical Councils of the Church. It is from the Ecumenical Councils that we have the Nicene Creed, our understanding of Jesus as both fully God and fully man, our understanding about Blessed Virgin Mary, Icons, and more. The Councils will be discussed and explored in terms of their historical and theological contexts, and impact on our worship life today. Adult Bible Study: Sundays 9-10 am Adult Bible Study: Thursdays 11 am - Noon Youth Group (for children ages 10 and over): monthly on Sundays 3-4:30 pm Canterbury Pilgrimage: Foundations in Anglican Spirituality, which gives an introduction to Christian spirituality and prayer within the Anglican/Episcopal tradition. Lent Study: Every Friday in Lent we have 5 pm plainsong Evensong, with Stations of the Cross and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by a community meal, after which Fr Dallman offers 40 minutes of teaching on a particular aspect of Christian faith. The theme for Lent 2023 has yet to be determined. |
